Other Wildlife
Plants
27/03/10=20
The Lesser =
celandine=20
(Ficaria verna) is a woodland plant that was found =
flowering=20
today . It is=93one of the first heralds of Spring=94. Its rich, =
bright=20
yellow flowers can form a carpet under the empty, leafless =
canopy of=20
woodland, (like bluebells, they take advantage of the light that =
is=20
available for growth at this time of year); . The flowers of the =
lesser=20
celandine can be an important source of nectar for early =
insects, such=20
as bumblebees emerging from hibernation.
